B17 to Brandon - August 24th!
The Commonwealth
Air Training Plan Museum in Brandon will be hosting the CAF B-17 “Sentimental
Journey” this summer in conjunction with our air show. It has been many years since this classic
graced our prairie skies and this presents a wonderful opportunity for us. While on static display a $5 donation will
allow you to tour through the Flying Fortress.
We are
looking for sponsors who will commit $500 to make this a success. Donations should be made out to the
Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum.
When the B-17 arrives in Brandon it will be doing a media flight and
sponsors may choose to ride in one of the six available seats; moving from
station to station in flight would be permitted. At the moment this is in the planning stages
so we suggest that cheques be postdated to 1 August, 2013. If, for some reason the visit is cancelled,
cheques will be returned.
Please
note that in the USA it is possible to purchase rides in the B-17. Permission is being sought for this in
Canada; however it has not yet been approved.
At this time we are not selling rides to the general public; hopefully
this restriction will be lifted.
We look
forward to seeing the B-17 at the Brandon Air Show to complement our Tiger
Moth, Stinson HW75, Cornell and Harvard.
We anticipate a return of Ross Robinson's Harvard and A-26 Invader. Mark your calendars for 24 August, 2013.
Last year
we had a wonderful air show and this year we look forward to bringing you more
with the addition of the B-17 to our display.
